And the laughter train keeps on going strong.

On Wednesday, June 13 the highly anticipated “Houston’s All Stars of Comedy” show returned to a packed house. Also returning as host was fellow comedian and Houstonian Terry Gross.  With a fresh roster of comics the show began high expectations, the bar having been set so high by last month’s showcase.

Nnete Inyangumia is having a great month. While many were shocked at the popular radio personality’s seemingly sudden departure from the “Madd Hatta Morning Show” on 97.9, it was soon revealed that she was simply pursuing her comedic dreams; and will be moving to Los Angeles to join Sirius XM Radio’s Foxhole team as both a producer and co-host on a new show.

While well familiar with her as a radio host, I was unaware that she was a comedian as well until recently, so it was I was incredibly curious going into her set.  While at times it seemed as if she is still trying to make the transition from radio humor, to actively engaging an entire crowd with that same humor, she quickly found her groove.  Especially when comparing Monica Lewinsky to a hero for “clearing the President’s mind for more pressing matters.”

Hell who wouldn’t want to serve their country and be a true patriot by assisting the President? Never mind. I’m chilling.

This was followed by a set from Hispanic comic Jerry Carrillo, who casted himself as a proud father while telling the crowd the many reasons his son is his pride and joy. Including; “He tore his mom’s vagina up, yep. Just like his daddy.”

Way to go son. Way to go.

Up next was Ms. Kiana Dancie all the way from Atlanta, Georgia. Boisterous and personable, I instantly drew a comparison of now legendary comedienne Sommore. Raw and uncut, I watched the young non-minority couple sitting at my table both squirm and laugh out loud as she touched on everything from learning how to properly squat, to the trickery that is the body suit. She instantly became the crowd favorite and I would love to see her brought back to the city. Soon. Very soon.

It was then time for the headliner to take the stage. Still rising yet already garnering an immense following, as Eddie B. came to the stage it became apparent early on that this young man puts his all into his craft. Full of energy and personality, he admonished the raising of some young women of today’s generation, “You got the baby popping and rolling her damn neck like she ain’t got no sense.” Then took it to the church, all of which I found hilarious.

For heathens like myself that do not attend on a regular basis this was as close as we could get. Don’t judge us.

As August quickly approaches and the next showcase comes around, one can only wonder how they will manage to keep topping themselves.
