(TRENDing Lady) Unique Washington
Interview by: Coreigh Terry of Houston TREND
Coreigh Terry: So… Unique Washington… What made you decide to go with your government name?
Unique Washington: I went with my government name because I want everyone to know me by my actual name, besides I think my name descibes and suits me perfectly. *Laughs*
Coreigh Terry: Where are you from?
Coreigh Terry: What is your ethnicity?
Unique Washington: Black/Salvadoran
Coreigh Terry: Was there a specific moment that you realized that modeling was an industry you could conquer?
Unique Washington: Yes, When I was 15 years old my mom placed me in a pagent and I needed head shoots done, so I went to a photographer and took a couple head shots and they came out amazing! That very moment I knew I was made for this, right after the photographer said, “You are made for the camera”. *Laughs* But I have always loved taking pictures it just comes natural.
Coreigh Terry: What achievements would you like to attain in order for you to consider your career a success?
Unique Washington: Staying focus and knowing that I can achieve anything through hard work and perseverance.
Coreigh Terry: In your opinion what is the biggest misconception people have about models?
Unique Washington: “That most models are not smart”! Now that may be the case for most but I am a very educated young women that works really hard to get where I need to be, so like the saying goes don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
Coreigh Terry: At this current moment, what project(s) have you worked on that your most proud of?
Unique Washington: I am very proud of a movie I recently filmed called Nicki A Hip Hop Love Story with Urban Life Entertainment directed and produced by Marcus Damone Henry and Terrance Gadison, the movie has Clifton Powell and Willie D from the group (Geto Boys) whom are also in the film which should be on dvd soon. I also did a project with you called “Behind The Shoot”, which was really hot! I have some other great projects coming up as well that I can’t wait to be proud of also coming soon.
Coreigh Terry: What models past or present have influenced you?
Unique Washington: Honestly, I love Selita E Banks and Jessica White, they are not urban models they are very much fashion top super models, but I have always admired they’re drive as beautiful black women and how hard they work to stay gracing covers of top magazines across the world. That inspires me to do the same thing, but of course in a different light I’m alittle more curver then your average model. *Laughs*
Coreigh Terry: The model industry is littered with a ton of beautiful women… What gives you the confidence that you can be successful in this game?
Unique Washington: What gives me the confidence is being confident in myself and embracing my own beauty! I don’t want to look or act like the next person I am who I am and I’m extremely proud to be me. I don’t walk around worrying about the next women and what she has, I worry about Unique Washington and what I have to offer to help me to succeed succefully in this business. Being different is a blessing and that I am.Â
Coreigh Terry: When its all said and done… How would you like us to remember Unique Washington’s career?
Unique Washington: I would like to be remembered as a house whole name! I want to be remembered for my creativity and my success as a business women and my hard work ethic and giving back to my community! I love and have a soft spot for helping people who are in need.
