Nelly Mugshot

St. Louis rapper, Nelly, is back in the media spotlight but not for his hit series “Nellyville” which is set to come back for a second season on BET. If you know anything about the St. Lunatic, he has never been one to hide the facts about his adolescent days and familiarity with the drug game. This past Saturday, April 11, 2015 Nelly’s tour bus was pulled over on Interstate 40 near the 275-mile marker for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA) sticker on the vehicle. The officer had plans to just issue a citation but when he approached the bus a strong marijuana odor was detected which initiated an automatic search of the vehicle. The Tennessee Department of Safety says:

“The troopers discovered in the sleeper area a plastic bag that contained five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed approximately 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics and numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.”

The bus held Nelly and six others one who was identified as Brian Jones. Jones, a convicted felon also possessed a handgun and was charged with another felony. Nelly was arrested and charged with felony drug possession. The rapper’s attorney has denied that any of the drugs were his. Nelly is currently out on a $10,000 bond.
