“I wasn’t a producer first, I wasn’t a club DJ first; I learned how to chop and screw before anything else. That was the first thing I learned how to record,” - DJ Mr. Rogers.

Paul Wall – ‘slab god’

Paul Wall returns with his LP entitled “slab god”. The Houston rapper stayed true to his music roots with this project — swangin’, drank and of course, slabs.

The beats — on point. Every track rides — literally. I’m the type of music critic that judges your music by how good it sounds when I’m riding around town. If your music can add a little flavor to my view of the city then it’s on! slab god’s soundtrack does just that.

Paul Wall isn’t the most complex with his lyrics. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t get his point across. Wall practices the less is more standard. He’s not going to rap super fast. He’s not going to try and make you ponder on ever punchline. His lyrics are simple, yet effective. In so many words his delivery says “You know why I’m here” (Marshawn Lynch)

I was pretty impressed by the features. Paul Wall definitely showed love to the Houston vets — Trae Da Truth, Lil Keke and DJ Chose as well as the rookies — Propain, Le$, Stunna Bam and more. Snoop Dogg, Devin The Dude and Curren$y even graced slab god with features.
