“I wasn’t a producer first, I wasn’t a club DJ first; I learned how to chop and screw before anything else. That was the first thing I learned how to record,” - DJ Mr. Rogers.

Silent Parties: Are They the New Wave?

Articles, Entertainment, Music, What's HOT 0 June 10, 2018 403 Lady Zeii

We’ve all been to the popping parties where no matter how many times you hint at not being able to hear, someone is constantly talking to you. We’ve all been to or seen movies when the “IT” guy or girl is throwing the party of the year, but ends up getting shut down way too early because the speakers were so loud some hater called the cops.

Well, it’s 2018 and those days are over!

The reality is you can’t really consider it a party without music. Music is a MUST if you want to throw the word “party” in the title! What seems to be having it’s own influence on the party scene, are silent parties. A silent party is when everyone in attendance is issued a pair of headphones and can hear what the DJs are spinning. Then and only then will you be able to hear any music. No outside noise for the haters (I mean neighbors) to complain about and no one forcibly attempting to hold a conversation (hopefully).

If you haven’t already, you’ll have a chance to experience a new way to party in peace! The Address is holding a silent R&B party on Friday, June 15th, from 9pm-2am. You’ll have a choice of two different DJs and will be able to go back and forth, like our girl Aaliyah. Although it’s titled “Silent R&B Party”, the site states old school Hip-Hop, rap, 90’s to current R&B, reggae, and the Top 40 Hits will also be in rotation, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

The Address is located at 3333 Raleigh St, Houston, TX 77021. Check out www.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets.
