Travis Scott inks new deal with PlayStation as their strategic creative partner

Missouri City’s (MoCity) own, Travis Scott has signed on as PlayStation’s strategic creative partner, the company announced Friday, October 23rd.

“Today, we’re excited to announce Travis Scott has joined the PlayStation family as a strategic creative partner. We heard Travis is a huge PlayStation fan, so we started a conversation with him that led to this unique partnership.” said the gaming company. “Through our mutual passion for gaming and creativity, we plan on collaborating with Travis and his Cactus Jack brand to produce innovative projects that we hope will delight our collective fans.”

When it comes to video games, Travis Scott knows a thing or two. In April of this year, Scott partnered with Fortnite for 2-3 days for the release of his new track at the time, Astronomical. More than 12 million players were able to watch the live animated, computerized concert & even had the opportunity to purchase some new player “skins”. After the 10-min concert journey, Scott premiered his song with Kid Cudi called “The Scotts” and which available platforms to get it.

The Grammy-nominated, chart-topping artist is no stranger when it comes to partnerships and business. This year in September, was the iconic partnership between the Houston-native and McDonald’s. It had been almost 30 years since the fast food chain partnered with a celebrity, last to name was Michael Jordan. The international fast-food chain, offered Scott’s favorite meal called the “Cactus Jack”, which included in some states an action figure. Demand was so high that products and food supplies were sold out within minutes.

Let’s not forget the incomparable music festival throughout the years, Astroworld, that’s been held in Houston for 2-years. The festival’s name influence is after the actual amusement park in Houston, Texas that opened in 1968 & closed for good in 2005. Plus, Scott’s third 2018 studio album is of the same name.

This record breaker, track maker, legend in the making is only getting started. “I’m really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team,” said Scott. “Most importantly I’m excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon!”

Today, we’re excited to announce Travis Scott has joined the PlayStation family as a strategic creative partner. We heard Travis is a huge PlayStation fan, so we started a conversation with him that led to this unique partnership. Through our mutual passion for gaming and creativity, we plan on collaborating with Travis and his Cactus Jack brand to produce innovative projects that we hope will delight our collective fans.

Travis is an artist who is incredibly innovative, constantly surprising, and continues to push boundaries, very much like the PlayStation brand – so we think this is a perfect fit. When we embarked on this collaboration, the most important thing was to keep it as open as possible, to allow space to explore interesting, creative ideas.

Travis’ deep knowledge and fond memories about PlayStation as a brand, our products, and games will inspire his work with us from start to finish. He is an amazing creator, and we strive to work with the best creative minds inside and outside of our industry to continue to surprise the world in a way that only PlayStation can.

Travis wanted to share a few words:

Today we are excited to share with you a unique video, created by Travis to kick off our partnership. The video features a few of the key people that worked on different aspects of the PlayStation 5 console.
