Following his breakout single titled Best Me. Malcolm, previously known as Young Apollo, has released his album called Backtracker (CLICK LINK TO LISTEN), which curates and involves the old school R&B with Hip-Hop from all eras. You might hear some West Coast and East Coast flare, but let’s not forget about the South, the Houston South. He has been able to adapt to the ever changing world of music, and make it his own, creating the vibe for others. Floetry is what can best be used when discussing his rapping abilities. Lyricism, creativity, and the ability to paint a picture of where you can see yourself when engaging in any of the singles, is what draws the listener in to this album.

With over 90k plays to date, Malcolm discusses his past, present, his experiences and his future as far as where he knows he’s going to be. The transparency and shared occurrences throughout his album about his life and its relatability is what most artists try to master, he’s already done that. Every single is different to the point that the category of where to place him, doesn’t apply whatsoever. When you take a piece of everything that is meant to trap artists in a box, you develop your own box, more decorative, colorful and relatable to everyone.

Malcolm has been in the game for more than 3 years and has never settled for an entity that wanted to change him or his perception on how he should create his own music. Not to mention, he’s the one who performs his own vocals, the switch on Me Amor from the smooth-funk beat to the pop-rock candid guitar and synthesized piano paired with his flipped rap tp accompany it makes this single stand out from the album. Mirrors, has the perfect mix of instruments, beats, snares, bass, and floetry (merge of poetry and dope flow by J.Renae standards) with the sprinkle of Houston slow flow; makes you want to spark it and flaunt it.
