One of Houston’s living legends is back on the mic and he’s better than ever before. Houston’s Sensei, Big Pokey, has returned to the rap game with new album Sensei. From the first track, “Piped Up,” the Original Member of the Legendary Screwed Up Click let’s us know that even though he went awol, he very much still got it. Same effortless smooth flow, still a wizard with the word play, and still have creditable street substance in his music.

“A couple of chops on deck in the safe spot, in the trenching n***a chasing down the sack like J. Watt. They wanna see a n***a fold, b***h I think not, mashing, I get cash off the glass like a bank shot,” Pokey says early in “Piped Up.”

Believe it or not, this Sensei is better than any the previous Sensei Houston is accustomed to hearing. Maybe it’s the anticipation that we’ve been waiting on, or maybe I’m Houston biased, but hearing a hometown legend like Pokey in this era of music only solidifies his lyrical dominance is still here, and it’s not just freestyles. That’s why this Pokey is the best Pokey we’ve probably heard on the mic.

I don’t want to give away too much from the album, but it’s a 13-track-project that includes features from Houston O.G’s such as: Lil Ke Ke, Lil O, Chris Ward, Killa Kyleon, Devin The Dude, and the rap legend, who now dominates the tech world, Grammy award-winning Chamillionare. It also features a plethora of new H-Town talent like, D.J XO, D-Bando, the late Chucky Trill, Kirko Bangz and more.

The Crock Bull Bully is back. Enjoy Sensei above.
