Imagine being able to earn $10,000 and all you have to do is what many Americans dream of on a daily. Yes that’s right! To get paid for not doing anything. Well here is your chance. NASA is willing to pay individuals over $5,000 a month, for a little over two months and all you have to do is spend 70 days in bed. Like really, this is a couch potatoe’s dream! (Cues Kanye Wests “Good Life”).

Now before you get too excited, there will be some stipulations to the process. The “Bed Rest Study” being conducted by the US space agency is designed to study the effects of prolonged exposure to Microgravity and requires participants to remain horizontal for a period of 70 days. “This study will show how much your body, tilted down slightly with the head down and feet up, for 70 days, 24-hours a day, without getting out of bed, except for limited times for specific tests, is like an astronaut’s body during weightlessness of space flight,” according to NASA.

Exercising subjects will spend 105 days and non-exercising subjects will spend 97 days living at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

There are three study periods; Ambulatory, Bed Rest and Recovery Period. During the “Ambulatory” period, groups will be able to freely move around the best rest facility and partake in normal activities. For the “Bed Rest” period, participants will spend 70 days lying in bed, with their body slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up). The last period is the “Recovery Period”, during the final 14 days or study, the groups will be free to move around within the facility, to regain body conditioning, and slowly began normal everyday activity.

During each period, subjects will take part in tests of their bone, muscle, heart and circulatory systems, nervous systems and nutritional condition.

Now see at first I was all with it, but lying in bed for 70 days face down, a$$ up (no pun intended) all day everyday could make even the laziest person antsy, but if you are the type of person that likes to challenge your body and have a couple of months to spare, I would suggest looking into this and getting that mula baby! There will be physical requirements and potential test subjects must be US citizens or permanent residents to be considered.
