The electrifying play of Houston Roughnecks (2-0) has captivated many Houstonians, and it’s clear by the supportive football fandom.

During the team’s most recent home 28-24 victory over the St. Louis Battlehawks (1,1), the fans didn’t shy away from expressing their love for H-Town’s newest professional sports team.

Faces were painted with the team colors, people sported fan gear, and one fan took it to the extreme and dressed up as a semi-replica of a Roughneck player. Houston’s hip-hop legend Lil Ke Ke was also in the mix. Wearing a red Roughneck shirt, he spoke to Houston Trend on his support of H-Town’s new team.

“One thing about our city is we stand up, and we’re going to represent hard.”

Lil Ke Ke, who was accompanied by his little boys, continued, “I love the colors, I love everything. I’m a big football fan, and I love the way our city came to support our new franchise.”

Other legends also showed their support for the Roughnecks by watching the game on Fox Sports. According to the team’s official Instagram page, @XFLRoughnecks, Houston Texan’s star wide-out, D’Andre Hopkins tuned in for some Roughneck football.

People tuned in from all over to watch Sunday’s game in the TDECU Stadium. The game trended on Twitter and mid-way through the second quarter, fans cheered MVP for starting quarterback P.J Walker.

In the win, Walker completed 20-of-30 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Next week will be the Roughnecks’ first road game as they will face Tampa Bay Vipers (0-2). The game is to be aired nationally on ABC at 1 p.m. (CT).
