Drake – Nothing Was The Same

Believe it or not the summer has gotten even hotter, especially with the long awaited release of Drake’s latest album coming out on September 24th. Nothing Was The Same proved to be everything including the same. But I must commend Drake on staying true to himself and his music. Especially since the media and those of us on social media seem to malign the clever wordsmith at the drop of the hat because of his openness to express his feelings and tell his story about his love life, failed relationships and friendships tested by his celebrity.

NWTS
NWTS really puts me in the mind of comedic heavyweight Kevin Harts summer Blockbuster Let Me Explain. For those of you who weren’t fortunate enough to catch the movie, Hart opened up about a bevy of issues that were reported by the mainstream media and use his stature and platform to explain and tell his side of the story. With that being said and knowing how close he and Kevin are i can see what inspired him to take such a bold stance and there is no doubt that Drake refused to walk lightly in order not to piss the ground off and definitely stepped on a few toes. But as I always say, “If you offend anyone by anything you say then it must in some form or way it must be true.”

But thats why I respect this M.C., because no matter how the world views him and the projects he puts out he still remains the artist that burst his way on to the scene almost 5 years ago. I would like to take the stance and say that Drake may be one of the realest out right now. Most for the fact that he doesn’t rap about what he is not, you wont hear Drake rap about trapping or gun play like some artist. He could be like some artist local and even world wide rappers who rap about one thing then live a completely different life. Drake has raps about whats real to him and we still find a way to knit pick and ridicule this young man. Furthermore as long the public is going out and supporting him and his latest endeavors, why would you change up for people who are afraid to understand. Make sure you go out and copp the album on September 24th and support real hip hop. For all things hip hop and the latest trends check us out here at Houston TREND.
