Have you ever wondered where this new age Houston music rooted from? I’m talking about the music that has grownups dancing in the clubs. I mean people have always danced in Houston clubs, but never to Houston music. The “Southside” by H-Town legend Lil KeKe was arguably […]

Around HTiiine: Pistolero’s Tequila & Taco Bar

Features, Resturants, Reviews 0 February 05, 2018 516 Louis Barragan

Houston loves tacos. Houston loves late nights. Houston loves good drinks. Houston has to love Pistolero’s Tequila & Taco Bar.

Located on Westheimer, just blocks from Dunlavy, Pistolero’s is at the center of Montrose. This restaurant and bar give off the perfect cantina vibe with low lighting, large televisions, and a huge bar as the centerpiece of its space. Booths line the walls, and a few tall tables scatter in the middle of a roomy dining area. A great soundtrack is always guaranteed. STRFKR and Bear Hands to go with tacos? Awesome.

The menu is not the typical extensive list of a hundred Tex-Mex combos but is perfect for a selection of favorites to get your night started. The tamales are soft and full of flavor, the queso comes with a scoop of guac in it, the chips are easily recognizable as true corn tortillas that have been cut and freshly fried, and altogether the food is filling and delicious. A standout from the choices would have to be the Bad A** Hambur-Torta: a fresh beef patty, fried egg, bacon, mushrooms, onions, pickles, jalapenos, and chili aioli on Telera-esque bread; served with chili-cumin fries and chipotle ketchup, this burger-torta hybrid is sure to get your mouth watering.

The drink options are strong and delicious. Margaritas, sangria, and other fruit/tequila mixes are affordable while draft options and Micheladas round out the menu. Happy hour deals include $4 Margaritas and Sangria plus $6 appetizers including those incredible tamales and nachos. Bar-hopping along Westheimer is guaranteed fun so be sure to stop by Pistolero’s for a quality Tex-Mex experience. Also, check out the daily specials for even more great deals!
